Mobile clinic

• Thanks to the generous support of our donors like you, CWB is able to operate a Mobile Health Clinic: A mini van, with a big purpose. Inside, it's fully stocked with the supplies and materials to run a successful clinic: tables, medical equipment, gloves, masks, and medication. 

Our van doesn't just carry supplies, it also transports our doctors and volunteers to wherever they’re needed — from crowded, low income urban areas, called "precarios" to isolated mountain villages. Because every child, no matter how remote, deserves a chance at a healthy life.

One of our major goals for each clinic is to identify major medical problems and and prevent them from negatively impacting or ending a young life.

Each year, our Mobile Health Clinic serves thousands of children across Costa Rica. We work in partnership with the government’s social system, CAJA, the Red Cross, and local community leaders to identify the communities most in need and determine where clinics would have the maximum impact. 

Together, we bring care to the forgotten corners of the country.

At one of these visits, in the indigenous area of Guaymi, we cared for 400 indigenous children, demonstrating our value to these remote communities. At this particular visit, we met a child who needed surgery on his right eye and were transported him to a hospital, we helped a boy acquire a new prosthetic leg, and we assisted another child with obtaining new glasses due to a degenerative malignant myopia. 

The CWB team drove 6 hours over the mountains to get to base camp and the following day, took a 2 hour horseback ride in a thunderstorm to get to the village. The journey was difficult, but worth it: we provided many indigenous children medical treatment for the first time in their lives. 

Our mission goes beyond healthcare. We aim to educate, to empower, and to build lasting change — by creating programs that address not just medical needs, but also social and educational gaps.

Our fundraising efforts are directed towards sustaining our Mobile Clinic,  and aggressively expanding our child examination efforts in order to help more children each year.
